COLLS EDGE XAVS IN A HEARTSTOPPER
BEAUY OUSTS AJAX
PARADIANS TIP GLEN EIRA
ST JOHN'S PIP POWER HOUSE
In a tension packed low scoring affair, Collegians defeated Old Xaverians for the third time this season in the Premier Second Semi-final at Elsternwick today.
Courageous Collegians skipper Chris Blumfield booted the winning goal with just minutes left to send the Lions back to the Grand Final. Ruckman/defender James Jorgensen was again the killer for Xavs, marking and clearing with constancy and purpose. Xaverians face De La Salle next week in the Preliminary Final.
In Premier C, Beaumaris survived a late spurt from AJAX to win promotion and a place in next week’s GF against Caulfield Grammarians. The difference was just four points. Will Murton kicked three for Beauy as did Jason Seidl for the Jackers in a game that slowed because of rain.
In Division 2, Old Paradians beat Glen Eira by 27 points and will face off with Banyule for the premiership next week.
In Division 3, minor premier St John’s edged Power House by 13 points, despite Mathew Taylor’s six goals.

DEVASTATING DE LA BURIES BLUES
LA TROBE PROMOTED AGAIN
PARADIANS, NOBS, JACKERS, COBRAS ALL ALIVE
De La Salle disposed of Uni Blues and fired a warning shot across the bows of both Collegians and Old Xaverians with a dramatic demonstration of power football in the Premier first semi final at Sportscover today.
While both teams committed first half errors, turning the ball over and missing relatively easy conversions, the game exploded in the third quarter. De La Salle jumped out to a 31 point lead but blues came back hard to get within a kick before the Dees powered away again. In all, sixteen goals were kicked for the stanza, which had the historians in the board room reaching for the record books. Twenty-five players kicked goals in the match.
La Trobe upset Div 3 minor premier St John’s in the second semi final and won promotion for the second successive year. The Trobers won by 14 points after the JOCs led at quarter time.

TRINS STUN MELBURNIANS
OLD TRINITY 15.5.95 d OLD MELBURNIANS: 12.13.85
Andrew Ramsden will not go gently into that good night. The 36 year old veteran turned on an exhibition as Old Trinity beat Old Melburnians at Elsternwick today.
Melburnians appeared to be well in control early in the second term, but the Greens hit back late to make it a contest. Trinity had an exceptional third term and held on as the teams swapped goals in the last. The last quarter went just 27 minutes and the siren went with Trinity four points ahead, the Sherrin rolling through to pad the margin by six more.
11 July:
SCOTCH WINS SECOND STRAIGHT AT SPORTSCOVER, THIRD ON END.
Old Scotch looked in early trouble against Marcellin at Sportscover but two goals into the wind late in the first paved the way for their turn with the breeze.
Not to be outdone, Marcellin played well into the wind in the second and at the half, the game was still up for grabs. However, the Eagles squandered their turn in the third and after some anxious moments early, the Cardinals booted clear to win their sixth game, their third on end.
Marcellin goes to the break with just one win from thirteen tries.
4 July: Old Scotch conceded two early goals to St Bede's Mentone Tigers but dominated proceedings for much of the afternoon at Sportscover Arena. The Brindisians came hard in the final term, but Will Davis' fourth goal after a great interception in the corridor settled things down again for the Cardinals. Hiwad Shakaib goaled for the Tiges, but the experienced Scotch crew ran down the clock to seal the deal.
St Bede's Mentone Tigers and Old Scotch fielded many new faces, forced upon them by injury and unavailability. James Sansom was promising for the Reds on debut, while St Bede's schoolboy Darcy Holden continued to impress for the Seasiders.
Scotch achieved dominance in the second when will Davis kicked three excellent goals in three minutes and Nick Hildebrandt slotted a ripper from the Pub Pocket.
The loss by SBMT makes a change to the top four unlikely. The major interest remaining at the top is the seeding for September, which may well be decided over the next month when fourth placed University Blues plays the three teams above it in consecutive weeks.
