Michael Sholly - Chief Executive Officer
Michael commenced as the CEO in 2005 after a career in education spanning twenty years mostly at St Kevin’s College. He has had vast playing and coaching experience in both cricket and football.
After a knee injury curtailed his football career, Michael concentrated on cricket where he successfully played and led both Melbourne and University Cricket Clubs to multiple premierships.
After 22 years in Premier Cricket, including four years as the Victorian Under 19 coach, Michael returned to the VAFA as senior coach of the Old Xaverians, winning the A Section Grand Final in 2003.
Michael and his wife Fiona have three teenage daughters.
Tim Noonan - General Manager, Football Operations
Tim joined the VAFA in August 2011 as General Manager of Football Operations. Previously he has spent twenty years in Catholic Education working in Western Australia and Victoria. He was most recently, for seven years, the Principal of Christ Our Holy Redeemer Primary School in Oakleigh East.
He has also worked for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup as team manager and he is a member of the West Coast Eagles Melbourne based match day staff. He has a Diploma of Teaching, Bachelor of Education and a Master of Business and Sport Management from Deakin University.
Sue Anderson - General Manager, Finance & Administration
Sue has worked in all areas of the Association and currently manages Finance, Tribunal, Investigations and Events.
Sue was Club Secretary at Hampton Rovers before joining the VAFA in 1984. Her sons, David and Stephen, both have played with Rovers.
Sue is the VAFA's longest serving full-time staff member.
Brian Goodman - General Manager, Umpire Operations
Brian “Benny” Goodman umpired 347 Senior VAFA and seventeen representative matches.
He was appointed as Umpires Adviser in 2004 and took over Umpire Operations later that year. Brian has attained Level 3 accreditation as an Umpires Coach, only one of five in Australia.
Brian played 106 games of VAFA football with Brunswick Amateurs winning 2 best & fairest awards. Brian has a Diploma & Masters in Training & Development and has a Cert IV workplace Trainer & Assessor certificate.
In 2011, Brian was accorded Champion status in the Big V Club.
Blair O'Hara - General Manager, Commercial Operations
Blair commenced in May 2012 following commercial roles in several prominent sports businesses, including Stride Sports Management. Blair is a graduate of the Peninsula School in Mt Eliza and San Diego State University in California, USA. He played NCAA Division 1 tennis for the 'Aztecs' and went onto complete a bachelor's degree with distinction in Film, TV, New Media Production.
Blair has an in-depth knowledge of the Australian sporting landscape from a commercial and player development perspective and has been involved personally and professionally in Australian basketball, volleyball, swimming, softball, golf, tennis, and several others. Blair is a huge fan of the Big V and annual VAFA state of origin matches.
Andrew Leonard - General Manager, Media and Communications
Andrew joined the VAFA as General Manager, Media & Communications in June 2012.
Andrew has had a strong association with the VAFA from his playing days at Old Carey to his time spent at Inner FM as a broadcaster and more recently as host of VAFA TV. When Andrew is not talking VAFA he is talking sport on his radio show The Banter and spends the rest of his time with his fiancee Shell and son Charlie.
Olivia Crowe - Administration
Olivia joined the VAFA in June 2011. She has completed her Bachelors Degree in Sport Management from Victoria University. Olivia has had valuable work experiences within the football industry working at AFL Victoria for a few years in many different areas including Female Football, Football Operations, and High Performance.
Olivia has played the game for nine years in the Victorian Womens Football League (VWFL) for the East Burwood Devils.
Brayden Carey - Football Operations
Brayden joined the VAFA in the Football Operations team at the start of 2013. IN 2012 Brayden completed his Diploma in Sport Development and Certificate III in Fitness with SEDA.
In the past he worked as a Regional Development Officer for Cricket Victoria, running cricket clinics, carnivals and generally promoting cricket in the Northern Rivers Region.
Brayden played junior and senior football for the Waaia Football Club in the Picola and District Football League.
