Cobras strike in Division 4, X-Men first class against Tigers

Five goals to two in the final term helped North Brunswick run down Aquinas by five points in the Division 4 top-of-the-table clash at Allard Park. Trailing by 12 points heading into the last term, the Bulls kicked five straight with Adam Densten (four) starring in his first match for the season. Nicholas Trewhella and Jake George (three) gave the opposition plenty to think about, while Patrick Mahon kicked his second straight bag of five for the Bloods. The Bulls now sit atop the Division 4 ladder and the Bloods fall to second spot.

Mt Lilydale made it two wins from two weeks as they defeated Elsternwick by 29 points at Mt Lilydale Mercy College. Leading by 10 points at the first break, the Rams kicked nine of the next 15 goals as they got home comfortably in front of the home crowd. Max Hampton and Stephen Donald combined for eight goals for the Rams and Aaron Potter was best afield. Jack McLoughlin and Andrew Oldfield did their utmost to give the Wickers a fighting chance but they now sit ninth with a percentage of 65.69.

St Francis Xavier recorded their first win for the season and first since returning to Division 4, defeating Masala by 45 points at Ryelands Drive Reserve. Brendan O’Hara (one) continued his hot form to start the season with a best-on-ground performance for the X-Men and Scott Haughton was gave him great assistance. Phillip Soloman stood out as the best Tiger as they remain winless after two games.

Manningham Cobras stamped their authority all over Division 4 via a dominant 80-point win against Eley Park Sharks. The Cobras hit the scoreboard 34 times to the Sharks’ 14, with 19 of those being majors. Nick Zappala was best on and nine goal kickers shared the spoils of a dominant midfield display. Timothy Miller was the best of the Sharks and David Viola kicked three goals.
