Goodman, Reilley lead host of VSDCA Life Members

The VAFA congratulates Brian ‘Benny’ Goodman and Geoff Reilley OAM for their inductions as inaugural Life Members of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association over the weekend.

Benny was one of two VSDCA Umpires Association nominations at the 110th Season Anniversary Luncheon and is currently in his 28th year of service as a sub-district umpire.

He boasts a long list of accolades:

  • Umpired 469 games
  • Life Member VSDCUA (2000)
  • Inaugural inductee of VSDUA 200 game club (2011)
  • VSDCA 200 game club member
  • VSDCUA Committee 2011-current
  • Current VDSCUA Umpires Coach

Geoff, who recently received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2017 for his contribution to community sport, is a VAFA Life Member (2014) and pens Retrospective each week in the Amateur Footballer. His VSDCA record stands as follows:

  • VSDCA Delegate 11 seasons
  • Caulfield CC member 58 seasons
  • Caulfield CC committee member for over 30 seasons; including, 10 seasons as secretary and one as president
  • Current Caulfield CC Team Manager/Scorer and publicity officer for over a decade
  • Cricket Victoria 50 year serve award (2011/12)

Benny and Geoff were not the only VAFA personnel inducted as Life Members of the VDSCA as we also congratulate Peter Ralton (Kew), Jack Wilson (VAFA Gatekeeper), Peter Warner (Old Scotch) and Paul Bain (UHSVU).
