University Blacks senior coach Cam Roberts has recommitted to the club for the 2019 season.

It follows a successful season for the Blacks in Premier B which resulted in a preliminary final berth and narrowly missing out on a return to William Buck Premier.

Uni Blacks President Nick Carah said the club was thrilled to retain Roberts into the 2019 season.

“We’re really excited to keep Cam on board for the coming season. A wonderful leader and communicator and highly respected at the Blacks and across the VAFA, Cam’s done a great job bonding together a young playing group in 2018 and he’s really keen to continue the building on the momentum and positivity we generated with the players and coaching group this season,” Carah said.

“The playing group has really bought into what he’s teaching them and we’ve seen a number of young guys establish themselves as senior players during his tenure, which will hopefully hold us in good stead going forward.”

The Blacks have also reappointed Adam Pattison to the role of Football Manager, after returning to the club at the start of the 2018 season.

“Adam has done a tremendous job in a role that we were really crying out for,” Carah said.

“He brings so much footy knowledge and experience to the table having played at AFL level and coached at a high level. His passion and energy for the Blacks and our players and people right across the Club has been infectious and has had a profound impact in a short period of time, so it was a really easy decision to reappoint him.

“With Cam and Adam leading our football program, we’re really confident we can continue to develop our existing playing group and also attract new players to the Blacks.”
