Old Trinity snapped a nine-game losing streak and moved a game clear of the relegation zone after they defeated Old Xaverians by 23 points at Daley Oval. After an even first term, the T’s – who were led by Anthony Scott and Brendan Iezzi – kicked six goals to two across the second and third terms before the Xavs lifted with five goals to four in the last term. Gabe Hamilton and Callum Pohl starred alongside Scott and Iezzi for the T’s, while Seb Nicolosi kicked his third bag of four goals for the year. Tom Williams and Matt Handley led the way for the Xavs, while Tyson Thomas made an impact in his first game this year. The win gives the T’s a one-game buffer over University Blacks and Beaumaris in eighth spot on the ladder while the loss puts a dent in the Xavs’ finals ambitions as they must now win both remaining and rely on De La to lose theirs.

Beaumaris claimed their second win in three weeks via a thrilling six-point victory over University Blacks at Banksia Reserve. Led by a five-goal haul from Stephen Milne, the Sharks led at every break throughout the day and held off the Blacks when they came home with six of the last 11 goals. Jordan Smith joined Milne on the scoreboard with three majors for the Sharks, while Scott Gower and Rob Cathcart were instrumental through the middle of the ground. Lochie Dornauf led the charge for the Blacks with four of their 11 goals and Samuel Bennett fought hard all day. The Blacks are now on equal points with the Sharks and both sides hold down ninth and 10th on the ladder, but sit just one win behind the T’s.

University Blues and St Kevin’s met in what could be a finals preview, with the Blues snapping SKOB’s nine-game winning streak and running out 44-point winners at Uni Oval. Nine of the first 11 goals paved the way for the Blues’ outstanding win as Jeremy Taylor continued his outstanding form with four goals in a best-on-ground display. Both Dan Batarilo and Tom Quinn chipped in with two goals each for the Blues, while Michael Di Natale and Steven Salopek were the best for SKOB. The win solidified a finals spot for the Blues as they now move three games clear of OM’s and Xavs in fifth and sixth spot.

Collegians came from 24 points down at half time and secured a hard-fought eight-point victory over De La Salle at Harry Trott Oval. Nine goals to four in the second half helped the home side reduce the half time deficit, with young gun Fraser Cameron leading the way with three goals in a BOG performance. Courtney Hylton and Sam Hibbins were once again at the forefront of the Lions’ strong form, while Tom Humphrey and Jake Williams starred for De La. While the Lions are already entrenched in the top four and likely top two, De La remain a game and a half clear of the chasing pack in fourth with two matches remaining.

Old Melburnians proved far too strong for St Bedes/Mentone Tigers in their Round 16 clash, defeating them by 72 points at Sportscover Arena. After an even first term where just two points separated the sides, OM’s exploded with 18 of the next 26 goals. Four goals from Justin De Steiger earnt him BOG honours, while Samuel Peacock and Cam Banfield continued their outstanding individual form. Young gun Tate Short stood tall for the Tigers with four goals and Dean Porter was named their best player for the third time this year. Oms now move within a game and a half of De La but must win both games while also relying on them to slip twice.
