X-Men double down on Tigers, Cobras strike Bulls for first loss

St Francis Xavier recorded their first win since Round 3 as they defeated Masala in a three-point thriller at WJ Turner Reserve. The X-Men double downed on the Tigers after their Round 3 clash and came from 28 points down at the last break with six goals to one in an unbelievable final term. Liam Dullard kicked two goals and was named best afield for the X-Men while teammate Jake Cowan backed up his four-goal effort from last week with a bag of five. Josh Kyle (6) and Sam Freeman (4) did their utmost for the Tigers with 10 goals between them but they were unable to secure their third win of the season.

North Brunswick suffered their first loss of 2017 after they went down to Manningham Cobras by 13 points at Allard Park. The Cobras trailed by four points at the half time break but piled on five unanswered goals in the third term and held off the Bulls when they hit back with four goals to two in the fourth. Justin Pilcher continued his outstanding form for the Cobras with his second BOG display in three games and Chris Jolly top-scored with four goals. Max Coutts starred for the Bulls and Adam Densten bagged his second straight three-goal haul, but the loss means the Bulls give up top spot to Aquinas.

Elsternwick maintained touch with the top four via an important 25-point win over Mt Lilydale at Elsternwick Park. The Wickers trailed by three points heading into the fourth quarter but booted five goals to one and ran away with the win. Julian Yeatman and Geoffrey Hibberd kicked three goals each and were the two most influential players on the ground for the Wickers, while Sean Gibson continued his standout form for the Rams. The Wickers sit in fifth spot on the ladder and just a game behind the Sharks in fourth while the Rams are sixth and half a game behind the Wickers.

Aquinas proved too strong for Eley Park Sharks in their Round 13 clash at Whitehorse Reserve, running out 74-point winners. The Bloods led by just four points at the last break but piled on eight goals to one in a dominant final term. Lachlan Naulty led the way in his first game with four goals for the Bloods while six teammates kicked multiples. Leigh Booth recorded his second consecutive bag of four goals for the Sharks who remain in fourth spot on the ladder but just one game and 8% ahead of the Wickers.
