South Mornington Football Club became the VAFA’s most Southern based club in 2007. Joining from the Southern Football League, the Tigers took a couple of seasons to get going in Division 4, but the reserve flag in 2011 had the climbed primed for an assault on the 2012 season. The Tigers went on to win the 2012 Division 4 premiership with a narrow 15 point win over Swinburne, but they had been the dominant force all season. Two seasons in Division 3 before being relegated back to Division 4 were both a struggle as the club lost a host of their stars. A lack of numbers in the local area meant the Tigers were forced to play down in Club XVIII at the start of 2016 and they’ve since rebuilt with a new-look committee and playing group making the Section 1 Grand Final in 2017. They re-entered Division 4 in 2018 after a strong recruitment drive and won nine games and finished fifth.
