Whilst the official records state that Westbourne Grammarians joined the VAFA in 2014, the club that was Old Westbourne has been part of the VAFA since 1991. A bitter split within the Old Westbourne club at the end of a Division 3 wooden spoon season in 2013 saw a name change to Wyndham Suns for 2014. A group of Old Westbourne players and officials separated themselves from the newly-badged Wyndham Suns to form a new club called Westbourne Grammarians. Whilst Wyndham Suns could only enter an Under 19 team in 2014 and would subsequently leave the VAFA for the WRFL, Westbourne Grammarians regrouped in Division 4 and take great pride in assuming the history of Old Westbourne. A review of Old Westbourne’s time in the VAFA showed the club managed two senior premierships in 2004 (Division 4) and 2007 (Division 3). The 2004 season they won the double, picking up a reserves flag that year too. 2016 proved another successful double, this time with Westbourne Grammarians claiming Division 4 seniors and reserves over close rival Point Cook. They fielded their first team in the VAFA women’s competition in 2018 and tasted immediate success with the Division 3 flag.
