A six-time club best and fairest, and fearless leader John was instrumental in recruiting gun coach Laurie Aghan to Old Scotch in 1976. John was the back-to-back premiership captain under Aghan of Old Scotch in 1977 (B Grade) and 1978 (A Grade). In fact John is the mot recent Premiership captain of Old Scotch. John played in a variety of positions for the Big V, and in the 1976 Carnival was the the side’s leading goal scoring finishing the championship with nine goals. John sadly passed away, all too soon in Greece, in 1999.
