It was an Australia Day long weekend to celebrate for Emmaus St Leo’s as they were awarded the City of Whitehorse Council Australia Day Trophy for Sport and Recreation.
The Animals, who will compete in Division 3 this year, lead the way in many facets off field and were recognised for their 2018 season involving the establishment of their first women’s team, the creation of a Mental Health Fund and their continually successful Ladies High Tea; an initiative which this year raised over $15,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Making the announcement via social media, the Animals attributed the award to the hard work of many from within the club.
“The club is ecstatic to have been recognised and will continue to build on these achievements in 2019.”
The VAFA congratulates Emmaus St Leo’s on their outstanding work and deserved recognition for their contribution to the community.
