George Janko has been awarded Life Membership of the VAFA. He has served as Big V Team Doctor since 1994 after a long association with the Waverly Melbourne Reds Baseball team. George also had stints at Uni Blues, Melbourne Football Club and with the Australian power lifting team.

George has enormous respect and love for the VAFA. As a volunteer for the VAFA, George performed way and above the call of duty. He went to Ireland in 2005 and 2008 with the All Australian team. Not only did he pay his own way, but on a number of occasions bought medical supplies without seeking reimbursement. When the VAFA toured the Emerald Isle last October, George Janko was there again, at his own expense, tending to injured players and unwell supporters.
George has been a significant contributor to the VAFA in other ways too and personifies the spirit of all of our volunteers who serve “for the love of the game”.
