Grill’d Rising Star Nominee: Corey Connolly

Posted on - Old Haileybury, Latest News, Featured

Congratulations to Old Haileybury sharp shooter, Corey Connolly, for his Round 2 nomination in the Grill’d Rising Star Award after his three goals against Fitzroy over the weekend.

“Corey first came to play at Old Haileybury in 2014 where he started in U19s and seniors while in Year 11 at school. He kicked three goals on debut and by the following year had found himself a spot in the senior side permanently.

Corey played in the Haileyburians 2015 premiership in Premier C and became the first school boy to do this since Mike Porter in 1963.

His style of football can be likened to Fremantle star and 2015 Brownlow medallist, Nathan Fyfe, with how he moves the footy and wears his hair on game day. Corey’s strengths as a footballer would be his ability to go forward to kick goals using his explosive speed, getting over the ball and he is an incredibly desperate defensive player.

The young gun is known for his excellent team work and plays the right way with a coachable attitude.”
