The VAFA congratulates Old Trinity young gun, Anthony Larkey, who has been named the Round 6 Grill’d Rising Star after kicking four goals in a standout performance for the T’s over the weekend.
What the club said:
“Anthony Larkey came to Old Trinity from the school and is enjoying a break out first year. Elected captain of this year’s Under 19’s, he is yet to lead the boys out, having played every game in the seniors.
A super athletic, hard working player, Anthony plays the game in a similar style to Geelong utility Mark Blicavs and loves to take a run with the ball in hand and drift forward to sneak a goal. For those who remember the great Robbie Flower, Anthony, has the same poise, decision making and ability to read the play that make it look like he has more time than others.
Known around the club for his hi-vis jumper training kit and love of cabinet making, Anthony is a super funny, chilled person, who loves his football. His appetite for hard work is demonstrated by using his Monday “off night” to train with his fellow Under 19’s.
Nicknamed “The Kid”, a moniker that another very handy AFL footballer carried, Anthony was chosen to be part of the 2018 senior leadership group, a testament to his standing amongst his peers.”
