Garry Norton – 300 Club

Garry certainly made his mark as both a footballer and as a leader at both club and amateur levels,

A ruckman feared by the opposition he also kicked his fair share of goals – 400 or more, over his playing career.

Apart from notching up a most impressive tally of 346 games he was skipper of the Panthers senior side for no less than thirteen straight seasons. During this period of leadership he won the VAFA Best and Fairest in D and E Grades in 1979, 1980 and then again in 1987. He won the club Seniors Best and Fairest on nine occasions and in the years between finished in the top three placegetters..

He represented Victoria in 1982.

Garry was the automatic choice as captain for Mentonians Team of the Century and today is still actively involved with the club. An annual trophy bearing his name is awarded to the Best Team Player.

Garry is a Life Member of Old Mentonians.
