From ballet to footy boots for Charlotte Paule

Who would have thought that a prominent ballerina would be playing VAFA football? Meet Old Melburnians’ star Charlotte Paule, sister of club captain and Big V star, Tom.

After graduating as a full-scholarship top level dancer from the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, Charlotte began her nomadic journey overseas and danced with some of the most renowned European institutions in the industry. Working with companies like the English National Ballet, and performing in competitions such as the Youth American Grand Prix, Charlotte lived in Portugal and would train for up to 54 hours a week.

Upon recently returning to Australia, Charlotte decided to start playing footy. At OMFC she shares the #3 with Tom, and is a close friend of women’s skipper Isabelle Smith. A much more personal reason to start playing football, Charlotte joined our game to highlight to everyone that stereotypes shouldn’t orchestrate sport.

Charlotte added “one of the best things about playing has been meeting all of the girls. I’ve made so many amazing friendships already. And I know that I could count on any one of the girls, because we are teammates now – we are a part of the dark blue team”.
