Panthers too strong for Jackettes, Tonners continue hot form

Old Scotch remain undefeated after they continued their stellar first season as a women’s team in the VAFA, running out 23-point victors against a valiant Old Haileybury at Camberwell Sports ground. Old Scotch got off to an early lead with four goals to one in the opening half and maintained their strong form throughout the third and fourth quarters. The Stars’ Lily Goss was best afield for her side and bagged 2 majors. Stacey Mastras and Charlotte Serafini were also impressive for the Stars while Old Haileybury’s Carly Dillon and Danielle Frawley were impressive in their side’s loss.

Old Mentonians claimed their second win for the season when they comfortably defeated AJAX by 22 points at Lindsay Hassett Oval. The Panthers ran away with the lead early as they held the Jackettes goalless in the first half and their consistent ball winning continued throughout the course of the clash. Brooke Carson was best afield for Old Mentonians, while Meaghan Medcraft was also influential kicking 2 goals. Isabelle Worth and Chelsea Fisher were the best players for AJAX.

Beaumaris claimed their third victory for the season when they overcame Old Carey by 36 points at Banksia Reserve. Old Carey were left goalless for the entirety of the match; however, managed to keep the Sharks goalless in the third term. Beaumaris proved too strong overall and fantastic performances from Emma Baker, Ella Wood and also Thea Brown with 2 goals were helpful in sealing the deal for the Sharks. Old Carey’s Emma Schulz and Mia Fitton were amongst the best performers in their side’s defeat.

Old Brighton solidified second spot on the ladder and continue their chase towards the top of the table when they sailed past the winless Hampton Rovers by 79 points at Brighton Beach Oval. In a dominant display, Old Brighton kicked away from the get go, booting 12 unanswered goals, with the Rovers managing their one and only goal in the final term. A number of clinical efforts from the Old Brighton girls contributed to such a convincing victory with Ava Hales booting 4 goals and being named best afield, and so too Indi Tait and Cat O’Brien also named in the best. Bianca Lenarcic and Chloe McLaren were solid in a tough loss for the Rovers.
