Red Devils cull Sharks, Tigers upset Swans

South Mornington caused the upset of the round as they defeated South Melbourne Districts by 37 points at Ferrero Reserve. The previously undefeated Swans gave up seven goals to five in the opening half before the Tigers piled on another seven to just three to close out the match. Robert Wilson was unstoppable for the Tigers with six goals and Craig Turner booted four in a BOG display. The Swans struggled to get going throughout the match, but Tom Murrihy was a standout for his side.

36 scoring shots to 10 helped North Brunswick to a comfortable 91-point victory over Mt Lilydale at Allard Park. Never short of a goal kicker, the Bulls were led by Daniel Orr and Brendon George who kicked six goals each. Orr was named best afield for his sensational display. Aaron Potter was best for the Rams for the second consecutive week, as they sit in fifth spot on the ladder and one game outside the four. The Bulls are now the only undefeated side after the Swans lost to the Tigers.

St Francis Xavier continued their outstanding form and claimed win number six via a strong 63-point victory over Elsternwick. The X-Men led by 11 points at half time before piling on 11 goals to three in a dominant second half. Six X-Men kicked multiples for the day, with Harrison Coe top-scoring with three one week after booting eight. Adrian Costa fought valiantly for the Wickers despite the side’s fifth loss for the year.

Box Hill North made it two wins from their past two games when they defeated Masala by by 36 points at Fotheringham Reserve. The Demons had just one more scoring shot than the Tigers (17-16) but kicked with incredible accuracy (12.5) to help secure the win. Nick Boothman was best afield for the Demons as they sit sixth with three wins. The Tigers are 10th and winless to date.

17 goals to two in the first three quarters helped Parkside to a comprehensive 115-point victory over Eley Park Sharks at Pitcher Park. Another five to two sealed the deal for the Red Devils who were led by Sam Gilfedder’s five-goal haul. Another three teammates booted three goals each while Patrick Wheare was the best of the Sharks. Parkside sit fourth on the ladder, four spots above the Sharks.
