Tigers roar into the four, Bulls end Red Devils’ run

South Mornington entered the Division 4 top four for the first time this season following a comprehensive 90-point win over Eley Park Sharks at Ferrero Reserve. Leading by 10 points at quarter time, the Tigers roared thereafter with 18 goals to six in the remaining three terms. Tom Boole led from the front with six goals in a BOG display for the Tigers, while James Spencer (4) and Travis French (3) enjoyed their time in front of goal. Bradley Tonkies fought hard for the Sharks who sit sixth, a game and percentage outside the four.

While improving their run to four consecutive wins, North Brunswick also ended Parkside’s eight-game winning streak with a 26-point victory at Allard Park. Leading by seven points at half time, it was the third quarter where the game was won as the Bulls kicked three unanswered goals. Michael Salloum and Brendon George kicked four goals apiece for the Bulls, while teammate Adam Densten was named BOG. The win gives the Bulls a three-game buffer over the second-placed Red Devils at the top of the ladder.

Masala claimed their first win of the 2018 season, defeating South Melbourne Districts by 17 points at Fotheringham Reserve. Scores and bests weren’t submitted correctly for Masala at time of publication, but Luke Money and Thomas Murrihy were the best of the Swans. They now fall outside the top four into fifth, one spot below South Mornington.

Box Hill North ended a seven-game winless streak with a commanding 59-point victory over Mt Lilydale at Elgar Park. The Demons exploded with 10 goals to two in the opening half before things evened out six goals to four in the second half. Eamon Stewart booted two goals and was named best afield for the Demons, while Cameron Liston and Nicholas Boothman kicked four goals each. Timothy Legg continued his strong form for the Rams as their standout player.

St Francis Xavier proved too strong for Elsternwick, running out 91-point victory at Strathaird Reserve. Leading by just three points at half time, the X-Men piled on nine goals to two in the third term before finishing with eight goals to one. No results had been submitted for St Francis at the time of publication, but Michael Pradolin and Richard Main were the best of the Wickers.
