The VAFA’s Senior Representative team trained for the first time last night at Collingwood’s Westpac Centre. Senior coach Simon Lethlean took the squad of 35 through their paces on the lush surface of the Olympic Park Oval.
After the session Lethlean was interviewed on SEN 1116’s Bush and the Burbs program (listen to the interview below) and he told Mark Fine and Paul Daffey that whilst a few key names were missing, he was very happy with the players that had committed to playing for the Big V in their pre-season match against the EFL.
The match against the EFL is part of AFL Victoria’s new Metropolitan Championships involving all six Melbourne metropolitan community football competitions to be played at Carlton’v Visy Park on Saturday 29th March. The VAFA and EFL match is the headline match of the three to be played that day and will commence at 3.35pm.
The feast of representative football commences at 11.15am with the WRFL taking on the SFL, before the 1.25pm start of the match between the EDFL and the NFL.
