Club Warehouse Rising Star Nominee

Congratulations to Christopher Hughes of St Bernard’s who is this week’s Club Warehouse Rising Star nomination. Chris’ standout performance against Old Carey in Round 18 was a well-deserved reward for his efforts this season.

Chris was one of 10 U19 players invited to complete a full preseason with the senior squad, further developing his running capacity and contested work.

Since his first senior game in Round 1, Chris hasn’t missed a beat as he has become a part of St Bernard’s strong midfield and wing rotations.

Contributing in both the hard ball and outside run, Chris shares similar traits to Richmond gun midfielder Trent Cotchin with his silky skills and high possession counts.

Chris has played all his junior football at St Bernard’s, progressing through their Football Academy program over the past three years.

Last Saturday was Chris’ most impressive match for Bernard’s. With two senior midfielders unable to play for St Bernard’s, Chris played as a first string midfielder against a quality Old Carey on-ball brigade and was clearly one of the best players on the day.
