Sharks cull Synners with 18 fourth quarter goals in Division 4 action

Manningham Cobras backed up their 192-point win against Chadstone with a 48-point victory over Masala at WJ Turner Reserve. A six-goal to two opening term put the Cobras on the back foot but they settled and kicked 14 of the next 17. Chris Jolly starred with five for the Cobras, while Matt Sexton and Sam Freeman combined for six for Masala.
Things continue to get worse for Chadstone after they fell to a monster 236-point loss at the hands of Eley Park at Jordan Reserve. 18 goals to one in the final quarter painted the picture of the massacre, with the Sharks boasting five players with four or more goals; including, Noel Bahnsen with seven. The Synners are in last spot on the ladder and hold a percentage of 11.26.
Mt Lilydale proved far too strong for Box Hill North as they claimed a 104-point victory at Mt Lilydale Mercy College. Eight unanswered goals spelt the early demise of the Demons’ chances as Max Hampton put on a clinic with nine goals. The Rams currently sit fourth with three wins, while the Demons are eighth but not likely to fall further below Chadstone.
It’s clockwork for Westbourne Grammarians in the early part of the season as they coasted to a 33-point win against North Brunswick at Westbourne School Ground. Justin Johns put through five and Ali Eqbal four as the Warriors strengthened their position at the top of the Division 4 ladder. Tom Falconer snagged four for the losing side.
