Inner FM commentator, Matthew Hill, has been announced as the new voice of racing in Victoria, replacing legendary broadcaster Greg Miles.

Hill was previously Sydney’s Chief Race Caller with Sky Racing, but moved to Melbourne to experience a variety of sports, including calling the Olympic Games, the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games and the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

During his tenure back in Melbourne, Hill commented Australian Rules football, namely as part of the Inner FM team in the VAFA and ABC Grandstand.

Speaking to Racing.com journalist, Shane Anderson, Hill said he has always wanted to be a race caller.

“Being from Melbourne, this has always been the role that meant the most to me,” he said.

“From when I was a young lad walking onto Flemington I was always fascinated by the sound of the races and those that called the action.

“To take the baton from Greg Miles, an iconic figure in Australian broadcasting, is an honour, a privilege and a rare responsibility.
