Round 6 Anytime Fitness Men’s Rising Star: Rhys Galvin

Posted on - Latest News, Featured, Old Scotch

The VAFA congratulates Rhys Galvin from Old Scotch Football Club, who has received the Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 6. Galvin is a stalwart in defence and kept the Xavs forwards quiet in their 35-point victory on the weekend, earning him a spot in the best.

What the club said:

Men’s Senior Coach, Mark Gnatt said, “At the raw age of 18, Rhys plays with poise and composure well beyond his years. He is a solid defender that can play as a key back (at 190cm) in a lockdown role and is developing his craft as a rebounder off half-back. He was tasked with matching up on one of the competition’s key players on the weekend and Rhys acquitted himself very well by winning the majority of one-on-one battles.

Rhys is a quiet country lad from Warragul, and he has fitted into the Old Scotch footy club seamlessly. His team-mates love having him run out with them and he has proven to be a consistent contributor each week and thoroughly deserves this rising star nomination.”
