STEVEN SALOPEK JOINS HIS BROTHER AT ST KEVIN’S OLD BOYS

St Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club is pleased to announce Steven Salopek has joined his younger brother Jason at St Kevin’s Old Boys for season 2013.
A first round draft choice at the 2002 AFL Draft, he was selected at number six by Port Adelaide, where he had a distinguished career including being a key member of Port Adelaide’s 2007 Grand Final side.
Salopek’s career went from strength to strength with continued success from 2008 to 2010 until injuries began to take their toll that would limit his playing time in seasons 2011 & 2012.
He is now back in Melbourne and looking to begin the next phase of his life.
“I am really excited to be joining St Kevin’s Old Boys and impressed with the Club and the determination of the boys to be successful. I’m looking forward to helping the boys achieve that success, and playing alongside my brother Jason at some stage is also something I hope to be able to do”, said Salopek when he joined the playing group last week for pre-season training at St Kevin’s College.
St Kevin’s Old Boys President Dean Staffieri said: “Our club is very happy to have Steven wearing the famous tri-colours of St Kevin’s. He is a quality player and a quality person who brings with him a tremendous amount of experience and  knowledge. He will certainly be a great addition to our list. We look forward to him having a long and distinguished career with us”.
