Tigers secure new den after bright off-season

Masala’s positive off-season continued recently after they secured Fotheringham Reserve in Dandenong as their new home base for the 2018 season.

The Tigers, who joined the VAFA in 2013 as a Club XVIII side and played their first five years of football in Noble Park, made the announcement via Facebook, saying the new venue “has an impeccable playing surface and is a great size for senior footy so we are stoked to have secured it!”

The news follows the appointment of senior coach, Alan Sutherland, in December.

Sutherland has 22 years of coaching experience and spent time at Emmaus St Leo’s, Old Eltham Collegians and Albert Park, steering the Animals to a Division 3 Grand Final appearance in 2015.

Despite disappointing results in their formative years and just two wins and a draw last year, the Tigers are one of the great Australian football stories with a large majority of their players of multicultural heritage.

They are driven to grow and provide a pathway for players of all backgrounds to play Australian rules and can now look forward to the next phase of their short history on their new home surface.

The Tigers will play their first home game against St Francis Xavier in Division 4 on April 7.
