The VAFA have defeated the Queensland AFL by 83 points at Burpengary in Queensland. The VAFA were never troubled as they kicked the first six goals of the game. Matt Handley (Old Xaverians) was the recipient of brilliant midfield work, kicking eight goals for the day.
Tom Paule (Old Melburnians) kicked four goals of his own in a fantastic forward display. whilst Harry Croft presented all day and was awarded the Spirit of the Big V for his performance at centre half forward.
The VAFA commenced in the best possible fashion as skipper Cam Howat kicked a long running goal from out side 50 to get the ball rolling inside the first minute of the match.
The VAFA then kicked a goal every two minutes for the first 10 minutes of the match to establish a commanding lead, holding the Queenslanders to just one behind for the term.
Queensland responded well in the second term and held the VAFA to just two goals for the term, nevertheless the margin was still 44 points at half time.
Tom Roach and Joel Rice (Old Carey) were winning plenty of ball through the midfield and Jack Townley (University Blues) and Nick Wynne (Old Xaverians) were dominant across half back.
Simon Lethlean still wanted more pressure and the VAFA responded to his half time request to pile on seven goals in the third term to lead by 82 at three quarter time.
With the game well and truly done, Queensland kicked a couple of late goals but not before Handley took his tally to eight for the afternoon with three final quarter goals.
At the post match function Simon Lethlean awarded Tom Roach the coaches best player.
