The VAFA would like to congratulate the 41 players below on being selected in the senior squad to take on the Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) on 7th July.
The squad will spend the next three weeks training on Wednesday night at Sportscover Arena before training on the Tuesday and Thursday night before the match when a final 22, captains and vice captains will be chosen.
The squad of 41 players has been drawn from eleven clubs with St Kevin’s the only club outside of Premier to have representation. Old Xaverians have the most representation with nine players in the squad.
Five of the successful VAFA U23 representative 22 have also been included in the squad. The U23 Captain Jack Bull, the vice captains Brendan Goss and Jaryd Robertson as well as Nick Jamieson and Phil Edgar will all vie for their second Big V jumper of 2013.
The squad includes all the big names including recent captains Paul Wintle and Cameron Howat,
There are also some first time selections including former AFL listed players Adam Bentick, Ed Barlow, Broc McCauley and Adam Pattinson.
Former Big V Representative Ross Young also gets a recall to the squad having spent the past few years playing his football in the WAFL.
The selectors would like to make clear it is important to note that the squad of 41 has been selected based on those who have declared themselves fit and available for the match against the VCFL.
That means there were some quality players who are either unavailable or will not be fit for the match in just over four weeks time.
