The Victorian Amateur Football Association extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Barry Hickey who recently passed away.

Barry was an outstanding servant of Amateur football for many years. He was an Old Carey stalwart and Life Member of the club, he served on the VAFA Board and he scribed for the Amateur Footballer Record.

Barry was awarded a VAFA Certificate of Merit for his service to Old Carey and the VAFA in 2006, becoming just the fifth Carey volunteer to be recognised with the honour. He was a committee member, team manager, umpire escort, timekeeper, property steward, right down to rubbish collector on Sunday mornings.

In the club’s 50th Anniversary Team, Barry was named as one of the club’s #1 supporters alongside J. Gramlick, C. Thomas and L. Thomas.
