The VAFA extends its deepest condolences to De La Salle OC Football Club, Mary O’Callaghan and the family and friends of VAFA Life Member, Tony O’Callaghan, who recently passed away.
Tony was a key part of the VAFA family, dedicating years of his life to both the Association and De La Salle, and was awarded a Certificate of Merit in 1980 for his services to his beloved DLSOCFC.
He had two tenures as De La Salle Club President from 1968-69 (B Grade) and from 1976-78 (A Grade), overseeing the 1977 senior premiership victory against North Old Boys. In more recent years, Tony and his beloved labradors volunteered years of service as reserve goal umpires.
Tony managed VAFA Properties in the 1990’s and was awarded Life Membership of our Association in 1996 alongside Ian Munro, Cliff Bastow and Max Lyon.
Tony’s funeral will be held at St Michael’s, 268 High St Ashburton, on Friday January 19th, 2pm.
