Huge congratulations to Marcellin winger, Annaleise Xanthos, who was named the Round 9 Anytime Fitness Rising Star following another standout performance for the Sheagles.
“This is Annie’s first year of senior football. She has played football as a junior and was part of the inaugural St Mary’s Junior Football Club’s girls team.
Annie has been a YJFL representative player and the captain of her Youth Girl’s team last year, and in fact stays involved in her junior club by helping coach some of the younger girls.
Growing up in a mad AFL Collingwood household and having some older brothers who played football, along with good friends has been Annie’s inspiration to play football.
In her junior playing days Annie was nick named “Buddy” for her uncanny ability to kick goals that should never have been kicked, since then she has developed into a great winger who plays like Robbie Gray. Annie is a hard nut who is known for her endurance, accurate kicking and tuff as nails, but honest tackling. Annie is someone who nearly always wins a one on one contest.
Annie is a very quiet and unassuming young lady with a cheeky and wicked sense of humour loved by all.”
