Since the inception of the VAFA in 1892, more than 250 clubs have spent at least a season in the Association. Of the present VAFA clubs, only Collegians has been in the competition in every completed season.

Glen Eira/Old McKinnon1999 –(Formed as an amalgamation of Balaclava, Glen Huntly, Monash Gryphons, St. Kilda South Caulfield and St Kilda CBCOB. Changed name from Glen Eira to Glen Eira/Old McKinnon in Nov 2022)

Melbourne University WFC2017-Entered as a standalone women’s club in 2017
Mentone Panthers1968 –(Changed name from Old Mentonians in 2024)
Monash Blues1962 –Commenced as Monash University, changed to Monash Bues in 1970s
Preston Bullants2009 –Formerly Northern Bullants until 2010, U19 only until 2011, Thirds in 2012, Seniors from 2013. Formerly Northern Blues until 2016.
North Brunswick1971 – 
Brunswick Football Club1932-38, 1963 –Changed name from North Melbourne CBCOB in 1963. Aligned with St Patrick’s Ballarat Old Collegians in 2005 to become North Old Boys/St Patrick’s. Changed name to Brunswick Football Club in 2017 with men’s (NOBS) & women’s (Renegades)
Oakleigh1991 –Entered VAFA as St. Peters Clayton as an U19 club only, changed name to Oakleigh in 1992

Parkdale Vultures1991 –(Changed name from St . Patrick’s Mentone in 2000) (Changed name from Mentone Amateurs in 2003) (Changed name from Mentone Vultures merged with Parkdale (SFL)
Parkside1938-2002, 2015 –Left for Northern FL, then returned to VAFA for 2015 season.

St Bedes / Mentone Tigers1972 –Changed name from St. Bedes O.C., 1993 merged with Mentone)

Swinburne University1996 – 
Therry Penola O B1977 –Changed name from Glenroy in 1977 to Therry CCOB, then changed name to Therry Penola in1997.
University High School – Victoria University1932, 1948 –Changed name from UHSOB in 2002. Formerly UHS until merger with Victoria University
University Blacks1928 –University B until 1927, University 1893, 1905-1920
University Blues1928 –University A until 1927, University 1893, 1905-1920
Wattle Park1992 –(Changed from St Leo’s Emmaus Wattle Park 2004, Changed from Emmaus St Leos O C in 2023)
Westbourne Grammarians1991 –Changed name from Old Westbourne Grammarians due to split when the club changed name to Wyndham Suns (2014). Westbourne Grammarians take their history from Old Westbourne Gr.
