In one of the biggest coups of the off-season, St Kevin’s OB and Hampton Rovers premiership mentor, Guy Martyn, has officially been unveiled as the senior coach of University Blues.
Martyn, who parted ways with SKOB last month, will lead the 2019 William Buck Premier champions after they managed six wins from their 11 games this season.
“I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach at Uni Blues which has a long and proud history in amateur football,” Martyn said.
“With a strong playing list and some incredibly talented young footballers coming through, the future is very bright.”
Martyn knows all too well the power of his new team after taking SKOB to the most recent William Buck Premier Grand Final against the Blues and going down by 40 points.
After a cancelled 2020 season, he coached SKOB to a 9-2 record and second spot on the ladder this year.
He will lead alongside two-time Woodrow Medallist and club captain, Ayce Cordy, as well as former SKOB Assistant, Dan Currie.
Prior to joining St Kevin’s OB, Martyn coached back-to-back flags at Hampton Rovers in 2013 (Division 1) and 2014 (Premier C).
