Monash Blues have announced that the former St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and Parkdale Vultures premiership player, Paul Groves, will take over as senior coach for the 2015 season.
Groves had a hugely successful playing career, in which he played in a total of 5 VAFA Premierships (including winning successive C, B and A Section flags with St Bedes/Mentone) and he also represented the VAFA’s Big V in 5 senior representative games.
Groves is Level 3 accredited coach who has spent the past 5 years as TAC Cup assistant coach, including stints at the Sandringham Dragons and most recently the Calder Cannons.
Groves impressed the club as a young, enthusiastic and knowledgeable football coach with a background in high performance and exercise science.
Monash Blues are confident Paul will be an ideal fit for the club going forward as they seek to build on back to back finals finishes.
Groves will be assisted by playing assistant coach and ex-Balwyn star Maddison Hardiman. Groves and Maddison will be presented to the playing group at the club’s preseason launch to be held at 6pm, Friday 14 November at 8 Beryl Street, Glen Iris, Victoria. All players, supporters and family are encouraged to attend.
