NEW SCRIBES FOR 2013 AMATEUR FOOTBALLER

Posted on - Latest News

The Amateur Footballer has a host of new writers for 2013 as well as some old favourites. Award winning Premier B columnist Di Langton returns as does regular Footy Almanac writer Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson, albeit in a different section.
The Amateur Footballer has been providing opportunities to aspiring writers and journalists for many years now and the new breed this year are keen and ready to let their pen (or should that be keyboard) do the talking for them as they cover everything that is anything in the VAFA.
With 26 premierships up for grabs the need for more sets of eyes and ears covering the VAFA has never been greater. This year we are extending our coverage to with more writers on U19s; and for the first time we will cover the U18 competition.
In a sign of the times,  this year you will notice that each of our scribes has their Twitter account featured and all are keen for you to get involved and tweet them any news or views you may have on the respective section that they cover.
Each scribe is also keen to promote events and activities at you club so your club media contact should have their details or otherwise you can find their email address at the end of each of their weekly columns.
So who are the crew of wordsmiths?
VAFA Life Member Norm Nugent has saddled up for another season covering all three sections of the Club XVIII competition.
In U19s we have four writers covering our five sections: Kristy Slater will cover U19 Premier, Lewis Emerson U19 Section 2, Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson U19 Section 3 with Nick Duxson to cover both U19 North and South.
For the first time the Amateur Footballer will cover U18s with it’s own dedicated column being penned each week by Olivia Crowe.
Umpires Corner will have the familiar faces of Steve McCarthy and Leah Gallagher talking all things from the men and women in white – or perhaps another colour soon.
Domenic Favata leads the coverage of all things Division 4, whilst William Balme will cover the happenings in Division 3.
For Division 2 the man is Brenton Mann and Division 1 will have the opinions and thoughts of James Reid for the 2013 season.
In Premier C the musings will be written by Will Reed whilst the AFL Victoria Media Award Winner for Best Weekly Football Column returns to write on Premier B – welcome back Di Langton.
In Premier the VAFA’s Media and Communications manager will again provide the weekly column and as usual there are hundreds of contributors for the much loved column For the Love of the Game
All in all it shapes up as being one of the most widely covered years yet for the Amateur Footballer with the first copy of 2013 out this Thursday evening and the stories from each of our scribes to appear at vafa.com.au on Friday afternoon.
