Join VAFA Media

The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) has opportunities for volunteers to join its media team for the 2025 football season.

The VAFA is Australia’s largest senior community football competition, with 70 clubs and 12,000 men’s and women’s players across metropolitan Melbourne.

We’re seeking dedicated volunteers to cover our senior men’s and women’s competitions in both print and online media. There are also opportunities to join our radio and live stream commentary teams, and also paid camera operator positions to film matches through the VAFA’s official broadcast partner.

These positions provide a fantastic opportunity for sports media and journalism students looking for experience in the sports media industry. It also allows VAFA supporters & club representatives the chance to use their knowledge of the competition to provide in-depth analysis to a wider audience.

Available positions include:

  • Men’s & Women’s Football Reporters – These positions require the successful applicants to compile a weekly written report (800-1000 words) on a section of the VAFA for the Website and Amateur Footballer Record.
  • Feature Reporters – Write occasional feature stories for the VAFA website.
  • Commentators – Work for the VAFA commentary team on live streams and RSN radio games.

If you’re interested in joining VAFA Media in 2025, please email [email protected] with your resume, an example of your work and the area of media you’re interested in.
