The VAFA blood challenge is in it’s tenth year and has provided over 9000 donations which has the potential to save over 27,000 lives! As a thankyou for VAFA’s incredible support over the last decade, blood product recipient Anna Melville shared her courageous story. Anna was confined to a wheelchair for several years in her early teens and after her first dose of a blood product called Intragam, was able to walk again in only 2 days. The intragam that Anna receives every 3 weeks take 8 whole blood donations to create and so each year around 140 donors help Anna live an independent and active life! The Winter Blood Challenge is underway and VAFA will again rise to the challenge and battle it out for other Aussies in need. Spread the word and get your mates together to donate on behalf of your VAFA team by calling 13 14 95 and don’t forget to look for the Winter Blood Challenge form in the refreshment area of your donor centre.
