ORMOND INTO B SECTION AS MARCELLIN DOWN THE BLOODS

ORMOND INTO B SECTION AS MARCELLIN DOWN THE BLOODS

However Brown, Voss and Loewe had different ideas and  within 5 minutes the lead had swelled to 25 points. Marcellin quickly rebounded with two goals in a minute to fire up their running players.
At that stage Loewe was off with the blood rule and Brown, after a month on the sidelines, was resting in the forward pocket. Marcellin’s attack on the ball was relentless and it seemed inevitable that they would take the lead.  They did this with 7 unanswered goals and the game looked all but lost for Haileybury.  However Brett Voss marked strongly and kicked truly from 35, Siapantis had a chance on the run but missed to the right however he made amends shortly after to bring them within 6 points at the 33 minute mark.
Haileybury got the ball out of the centre however some good defensive work from Marcellin fsaw the ball safely over the boundary line.  One last gasp however the breakaway was won by Marcellin as the siren sounded to end an intriguing match.
Marcellin will play the loser of the St Bernard’s, Old Essendon clash in a fortnight.
At the Junction Oval Ormond are back into B section after defeating the Rovers by 19 points. A four goal to nil last quarter was the difference in the two teams.  Martinov was the leading goal kicker with 3 for Ormond whilst Woods was best for the Rovers.
An 8 goal third quarter by Old Geelong was enough to see them over the line against NOBS St Pats.  NOBS retaliated with 7 goals in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough to hold them off.
Emmaus St Leos gained promotion to D1 after defeating Ivanhoe.
Tomorrow Old Scotch play Old Xavs at Sportscover Arena,Ajax take on Oakleigh at the Junction Oval, Hawthorn play Eltham at Gillon Oval Brunswick and West Brunswick play St Francis Xavier at Vermont.
