After an extensive search and interview process the full board met and unanimously decided to appoint Keogh and Iannello. The club spoke to over a dozen candidates before finalising a short list of six. "It was a hot field with all applicants presenting very well” Overman said.

“Shane and Rocky may have had some advantages from their involvement with the club this year but their presentation was simply first class.

They demonstrated a detailed understanding of the key issues and their plans for our young list to take the next step”

.
Keogh and Iannello had successful playing careers (Shane at VFL and District level, Rocky at District level) a demonstrated track record of success including five A Grade premierships and a passion for football.

"Shane and Rocky are very strong individuals with clear communication skills, a very high work ethic and set a tone for players to push for self-improvement"
.
In summing up Overman said, “Against an extremely strong field Shane and Rocky met all of the key criteria we were seeking and more and after a year at the VAFA coalface, they understand the issues, player capabilities, opposition etc and are excited about St Bernards future”
