The VAFA’s exciting new U18 competition has been given the go ahead by the VAFA Board at their recent end of year seminar, with club’s from both within and outside the VAFA expressing interest in being part of it’s first season.
The U18 Section will not replace any U19 Sections, rather it will service a need for some clubs who have difficulty in bringing junior players through to their U19 or senior sides. Currently, expressions of interest have been expressed by the following clubs with most certain they will be ready to go come April –
South Melbourne Districts
Oakleigh
St Bernards
Therry Penola
Bulleen Templestowe
Hampton Rovers
St Bedes Mentone Tigers
Beaumaris
As well as these VAFA clubs, expressions of interest have been shown by 3 clubs from outside the VAFA, however due to the VAFA’s screening processes and political sensitivities, these clubs cannot be named as yet.
Some exciting aspects of this competition will be Friday night matches and curtain raisers to U19 and senior matches.
If your club wishes to express an interest in entering a side for 2009, please contact Jeremy Bourke on 9537 6705 or [email protected]
