Kanis led the Blues to its drought breaking A Section premiership in his first year as a Senior Coach in 2004. In the same year Kanis was voted the VAFA Coach of the Year as well as the VAFA Personality of the Year. Kanis led the Blues to successive A Section Grand Finals in 2004-05 and successive Preliminary Finals in 2006-07. As a player, Kanis played over 300 senior games with Old Caulfield and Uni Blues (as captain from 1989-92) as well as representing the VAFA on numerous occasions.
Guengerich led the Blues Reserves to Premiership success in 2008, also in his first year as a coach. He has been promoted to Senior Assistant Coach for the 2009 season as well as retaining his post as Reserves Coach. Guengerich had a successful playing career with Preston in the VFA, winning multiple Premierships with his hometown club of Heyfield in the VCFL as well as being a member of the Blues 2004 A-Section Premiership team.
