James began his career with Old Xavs running the water bottles for the U19s, as the selectors couldn’t quite squeeze him into the first round lineup. Six months later, the boy from Ballarat was wearing an A Section premiership medal.
McDonald has played 217 games for the Melbourne Football club since making his debut against Collingwood in round 17 of the 1997 season.
