Whitefriars Old Collegians Football Club has announced the appointment of Theo Vlahos as senior coach for 2011.
Theo was an assistant to senior coach Greg Feutrill in 2010 and becomes only Whitefriars’ seventh coach in its 25-year history.
The popular Vlahos has coached with success at Old Xavs in both 2nds and Under 19 levels and has also coached many junior teams at Kew Comets and Xavier College.
“Theo was very well accepted by the playing group in 2010 and we welcome his intention to take full responsibility for the senior squad in 2011. His organisational skills, experience and knowledge of the VAFA competition made him a terrific choice for our club,” Friars president Sal Ciardulli said.
“I am excited to coach Whitefriars in 2011. The Club has a strong committee with outstanding playing and off-field facilities” Vlahos said. “Our team won seven games last year but we’re hoping to push hard for Finals in 2011.”
Whitefriars spent a year in Premier football in 2004 after winning five senior premierships in the VAFA competition since joining in 1986.
