Under cloudy skies Old Trinity made safer their Premier place for 2012 with a comprehensive victory over Old Melburnians. The final scoreline flattered the Dark Blues, who trailed for the entire second half after veteran Andrew Ramsden went berserk in the third term. The Ts got out to a seven goal lead before OMs stormed home, but way too late.

Old Xaverians turned on their best effort for the season thus far, defeating St Bede’s/ Mentone Tigers by 37 points. Xavs, though inefficient in front of the sticks themselves, were miserly in defence, holding the Tigers to a solitary behind in the first half and goalless until the 11 minute mark of the final term.
Xavs had good players all over the park while the Brindisians struggled to find the football in the blustery conditions.
The result leaves De La Salle, which plays Xavs next Saturday, 2.5 games out of the four. SBMT maintains a tenuous grip on second spot and will face Carey at the friendly confines next week.

Old Scotch was gallant in defeating St Bede’s Mentone Tigers by five points at Sportscover today. Leading by just 13 points at the final change but facing a wind in the last, the Cards surrendered the lead at the 22 minute mark but fought back with late goals to Hamish Dick and Shane Neaves to snatch the game. Al Pike booted four for the Red Men in the first half, while Jarryd Robertson and Luke Terrell were ever dangerous for the Tiges. The Brindisians went in without Jack Hellier, Ben Phibbs and Sam Anstey, while Scotch missed Max van den Broek and Rob Ferraro.
SBMT thus remain in second position, two points behind Collegians, while Scotch has eighteen points and is back withing striking distance of the four.

De La Salle survived a massive challenge from Old Haileybury to win its R8 contest by 3 points at Sportscover today. The Bloods got within three points at the end, but time ran out with De La locking the ball on the far side.
Earlier in the final term, Old Haileybury looked likely until Brett Eddy burst clear on the backline, gathered the ball and ran through the centre. He pumped it long and Jake Gotch snapped a vital into the wind goal.
DLS proceeded to blow it out to 20 points before Haileybury commenced its ill-fated final charge.

Old Melburnians began brilliantly and finished just as well, taking their first premiership points from a disappointing De La Salle at Sportscover today. while the Dark Blues were
superior early, DLS worked its way back into the contest and looked to travelling better in the middle terms.
Most would have been forgiven for believing De La’s run would come to the fore and that OMs would collapse under the stampede, but the Men of Harlech steadied and resisted every challenge, the backline holding firm and key forwards Beck, Dunell, Irving and the opportunist Paule getting the job done.
22.5.11
Old Scotch bounced back to the winners’ list with a hard-fought victory over Old Carey at Sportscover today.
Carey began well with the breeze, kicking long goals to the scoreboard end, but Scotch hung in to ensure their opponent never slipped away. at their turn, the Red Men delivered and went to the long break ahead.
Again Scotch kicked valauble goals into the wind and they went to the final break ahead. With a five goal wind at their backs, the Cards were unbackable favourities. The Panthers mounted a last charge and two chances to retake the lead were not lrealised as the clock ticked into time-on. Finally, after being out of sorts for most of the quarter, Scotchies slammed home a long goal to seal the deal.
15.5.11
Collegians ran away from Old Trinity in the second term to establish a match-winning lead in their Premier contest at Sportscover Arena today.
The Ts had early chances but were inaccurate, while Chris Blumfield shot straight from the outset, putting through the Lions’ first four majors.
Old Trinity finished off the game well but never threatened the dominance of a strong Purples outfit. Andrew Ramsden booted five for the vanquished.
Next Sunday, Old Scotch meet Old Carey at Sportscover Arena at 1:20pm.
