Peninsula Old Boys this week lost one of their young players, Matt Peirce. Matt passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning after complaining of being unwell on Sunday. He had contracted a viral infection that attacked his heart and despite wonderful medical attention he could not be revived.
Matt developed through the Pirates’ U19s and during the last two years was a great contributor in their reserves. Matt persisted with his football and improved his skills and had begun to play terrific team footy. Last Saturday, Peninsula celebrated his 50th game.
On behalf of the entire VAFA community, we extend deepest condolences to the Peirce family, to the Peninsula Old Boys FC and to the many friends he leaves behind. Requiescat in pace.
