St Mary’s Salesian bounced back from a month of terror in Division Two to beat Emmaus St Leo’s by 22 points. Trailing at quarter time by two goals, the Saints slipped into gear to push the ball forward to Sam Autio, who obliged his teammates by booting sixteen of the Sainters’ twenty goals on the afternoon. Div 4 leader South Mornington gazumped Chadstone by 148 points, with Jesse Albrecht nailing thirteen. Also clocking up double figures, Ivanhoe’s Ash Close with ten, ensuring a win over Power House. In 
Div 4, Manningham Cobras won their third on end, tripping up Mount Lilydale as Scott McPherson drilled ten.

In Premier football, a stunning performance under the spires saw St Bede’s Mentone Tigers turn it on as in days of yore, smashing University Blues by 62 points. The Varsity kicked six in the third and five in the last, but Shaun Glennen with eight and George Rowlands with seven gave Mick Dwyer’s team a much need victory and cast further doom on Blues’ finals chances. Collegians stayed top with a fifty point win over St Bernard’s, who had led at half-time after a strong second term. De La Salle beat Old Carey by 32 points after the Panthers slowed in the third term. Caulfield Grammarians pushed early in Ben Carboni’s final game and led into the third quarter. Nick Wynne went forward, Xavs forwards found the ball and the margin blew to 58 points in the end, with Matt Handley kicking five. Old Scotch overcame Old Trinity after a slow start to win comfortably.

In Premier B, Oakleigh won its first when it beat Werribee Districts at soldier’s Reserve. The Bees can’t win at the Hive, it seems, though are travelling well on the road. Beaumaris torched AJAX, while Dan Anthony’s five saw Old Brighton beat OMs. Old Ivanhoe lowere their colors again at Chelsworth, this time to unbeaten Uni Blacks. Josh Gabelich clocked five as St Kevin’s beat Old Haileybury. 

The Nodders belted Banyule in Premier C, with the clever Chanath Jayaweera kicking eight and Rees Thomas five. Adam Barclay slotted five for the Bears. Leigh Brennan kicked five for Rupertswood, not enough to get them over top-ranked Marcellin. Fitzroy stayed strong with a win at Monash Blues. Dan Rochford kicked six as Parkdale Vultures dumped neighbour Hampton Rovers. Old Camberwell put in a solid final stanza to clip PEGS.

Ian Rickman sang the Gulls’ song at last as Williamstown CYMS beat Glen Eira. Callum Wood kicked six as Old Geelong clobbered Old Mentonians. Peninsula had a scare from Ormond, but the Pirates prevailed by 18 points. High Schoolis still hot, drubbing St John’s, while North Old Boys overcame a half-time deficit to edge Whitefriars at Donvale.

Division 2 action saw Bulleen Temp hit La Trobe hard, tipping them by 56 points. Therry Penola overcame a spirited Monash Gryphons. Jim Kandilakis kicked five but Paradians fell to the Turtles. Adam Sleight kicked six as the Four Blues drenched South Melbourne Districts.

Dan Lauletta booted five as Hawthorn won its first, by just a point from the Bankers. Elsewhere in Div 3, Ed Pearson kicked six as UHS-VU beat Aquinas. St Francis Xavier was no match for Elsternwick. Seb Angus added another five as the Stationmasters fought off Kew.

In Division 4, Dean Perkins rammed home five in Eley Park’s victory over North Brunswick. The Razorbacks had five from Jackson Manning as Swinburne pummeled West Brunswick. Brenden Lucas kicked eight for Point Cook, which drubbed Box Hill North.
