From formation to A-Grade: Old Geelong Women’s makes history
Old Geelong Football Club opened its 2025 season in historic fashion, with its women’s side marking their first year in the William Buck Premier competition with two wins straight out
Each week hundreds of football matches are played out across Melbourne and indeed Australia.
In order for these matches to be played, the players need someone to make a decision on whether the ball was touched or whether it crossed the line and until the day that video technology is conclusive, here at the amateurs we believe in leaving the decisions down to the people closest to the action, the men and women in white.
The VAFA has a proud history of identifying, then developing talent that goes on to officiate at the highest level of the game.
We encourage umpires of all ages to spend a couple of hours each weekend to keep fit and active without the heavy knocks.
Former players, junior umpires and senior umpires are all welcome to apply to become a VAFA umpire in 2013.
For details about how to become an umpire at the VAFA, check out the link on the website “Become an Umpire” or click here to see what it is all about.
In case you were wondering, yes you do get paid, and the best part is that it’s tax free.
Everyone looks good in white, particularly if you have got a bit of a summer tan to show off, so we hope to see you in white in 2013.
