In a win for players that attack the ball like there is no tomorrow, Bede Mahon has topped the vote tally to win the Uni Blacks Cordner Medal for the best and fairest senior player in 2012.
They say that there is no finer individual award than a B&F in a premiership year and few would doubt that Bede is a worthy winner.
After debuting for The Blacks in 2008 during his first foray into Uni, Bede returned home to the Swan Hill area where he played alongside his brothers at Ultima, and then to his home club the Tyntynder Bulldogs.
This club has proven to be a goldmine for The Blacks with 2011 Cordner Medalist Scott Weekley, as well as spearheads Jake Matthews and Adam Cook arriving via the Bulldogs also.
His ability to collect a ball at full speed, take a tackle and still get rid of the ball is envied by many and this skill alone has opened up many an attacking thrust for the Blacks this year.
