Weeks deep into March and the town of Darley, hanging back-shoulder off the side of Bacchus Marsh and the snaking Western Freeway, is still an island of resistant, baking heat.
St. Bernard’s OCFC will again contest the U19 Premier, U19(North) and U18 competitions in the VAFA.
Applications are sought for these three roles, with the U19 Premier coaching applicant also being asked to consider the exciting position of Football Academy Director.
U19 Premier Coach
St. Bernard’s OCFC is seeking an experienced coach with a clear preference to develop talented U19 footballers to become the best they can be as quickly as possible.
Joining an established and well resourced senior coaching group, you will have your level 1 AFL coaching accreditation, you will either be an experienced senior coach or experienced U18/19 coach in your own right, and you will enjoy the challenge of developing young players individual skills and team oriented approach to football.
St. Bernard’s senior team will again compete in Premier division of the VAFA, and our U19 Premier team will be one of three under age teams we field in the VAFA competition in season 2013.
As U19 Premier coach, you will join the senior club selection committee, you will be an integral part of developing key aspects of your teams game plan and playing style, ensuring key elements of the senior teams game plan and playing style are taught to the U19 Premier playing group.
Working with senior coach, Chris Tankard, Director of Football Development, Simon Atkins, and senior football consultant, Dean Laidley, you will be challenged to contribute to the football teaching environment at the senior club as well as for the other two under age teams we field in season 2013.
Football Academy Director
A unique feature of the role you are applying for is the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to the St. Bernard’s Football Academy.
Building on the success of the 2012 Colts program, the 2013 Football Academy is expected to be offered to in excess of 100 U15 to U19 footballers from 19 November 2012 to 1 March 2013.
Your role as Football Academy Director will be to contribute to the football component of this successful, well organised program for those young men transitioning from junior football to the senior football ranks.
You will be supported by a dedicated Football Academy coordinator, who will arrange the numerous specialist coaches that contribute to this successful program.
Remuneration & Support
All senior coaches report to the Football Director, whose role it is to provide you with the necessary resources to perform your role to the best of your ability.
In addition, the football club seeks to provide the best off-field support in the VAFA in all facets of the game, from trainers, off-field structure and parental assistance, access to state-of-the-art coaching techniques and philosophies and football equipment.
Both the Football Academy Director and U19 Premier coaching role are paid positions, with remuneration negotiated with the Football Director and club Treasurer, at levels commensurate with the roles offered.

U19 (North) & U18 Coaches Sought
Applications are also sought for any prospective coaches seeking to be involved at an exciting, progressive football club.
With approximately 90 to 100 young men aged 16 to 19 years of age all keen to play football, develop their football skills and be apart of a great community, St. Bernard’s OCFC again expects to field 3 under age teams in the Victorian Amateur Football Association.
The U18 team and the U19 (North) team will comprise many quality, young footballers seeking to remain involved in the sport as they transition from junior football to the clubs senior ranks.
Coaching applicant’s will either be AFL level 1 accredited, or happy to gain that accreditation.
Your clear preference will be to develop young U17/18/19 footballers to become the best they can be as quickly as possible.
Joining an established and well-resourced senior coaching group, you will have the opportunity to develop your own coaching skills in an environment that invites your input, and you will enjoy the challenge of developing young players individual skills and team oriented approach to football.
