After an extensive search Old Carey Grammarians FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Cochrane to the position of Senior Coach for season 2013.
Steve has a rich football history, his playing days included 5 years at Richmond FC before being picked up by Geelong FC in a mid-season draft, this was then followed a short stint at Frankston FC in the VFL.
Beyond the AFL/VFL Steve played many games in the EFL with both Vermont FC and the Blackburn FC, including 5 premierships with one as captain, also winning a B&F and leading goal kicker award.
Upon retirement Steve turned his attention to coaching, initially an assistant coach at the Coburg Tigers in the VFL as midfield coach under Jade Rawlings before returning to Blackburn FC and serving a 3 year stint as its senior coach in the EFL’s Division 1 competition.
Professionally Steve works as an executive at Car Sales and is married with 2 young children.
Steve replaces the retiring Trevor Rowe who had a wonderful 4 year stint at Carey creating history and getting us to Premier Section for the first time.
Steve will be joined by 3 support staff, Paul Breen, Craig Swift (former De La Salle 200 game player) and Paul Hogan, with all very keen to get our 2013 pre-season underway.
The club will be scheduling a player get together where Steve and his team will get to meet the playing group and map out the pre-season, details will be at oldcareyfc.com.au.
Old Carey is very excited by the appointment and thrilled to have a person of Steve’s quality and experience including his support team leading our club at a very important time in our football history.
